Hi, and welcome — I'm glad you found your way here. This is the very first post on the vDrone FPV blog, so let's start with the basics: who I am, why I fly, and what you can expect to find on this page going forward.
My name is behind vDrone FPV, based in Alphen aan den Rijn, and for the past few years I've been chasing one very specific kind of shot — the kind you can only get by flying a small, fast drone through spaces no camera crew on the ground could ever reach. Through doorways, around trees, low over water, right up to a subject and away again in one continuous, breathless motion. That's FPV flying, and it's what this whole business is built around.
Why FPV, specifically?
Traditional drone photography is great for wide, stable overviews — and I still use that kind of drone for real estate and survey work. But FPV is different. You're not looking at a screen from a safe distance; you're seeing exactly what the drone sees, in real time, reacting to the environment as it happens. It's the closest thing to actual flight most people will ever experience, and when it's done well, the footage feels alive in a way that traditional aerial shots simply don't.
That immersive, in-the-moment quality is what I try to bring to every project — whether it's a wedding, a corporate event, a property tour, or a brand film.
What to expect from this blog
I'll be using this space for a mix of things:
- Behind-the-scenes stories from recent shoots
- New portfolio pieces as they're finished
- Gear reviews and updates to the fleet
- Occasional flying tips for anyone getting into FPV themselves
Nothing overly technical, nothing salesy — just an honest look at what goes into this work, and hopefully something worth coming back for.
Thanks for stopping by. If you have a project in mind, I'd love to hear about it.
